How do you define yourself?

One of my clients was having a really tough time a few weeks ago, and she peppered our whole coaching call with statements like, “I’m sorry. I guess I’m just not a every positive person,” “See? I’m so negative all the time and I hate it,” and “I’m just a really negative person, and I’m starting to question whether I can even do coaching.”

Which of the Four Tendencies are you?

My coach just shared Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies model with me and it's blowing my mind!

I have a tendency (haha) to get inspired by a fabulous idea, then immediately throw myself into a whirlwind of work in which time I feel absolutely incredible and high on life. Then once I start to sell my idea or program that I’ve worked so hard on and I hear crickets, I get discouraged and I throw in the towel. I mope around for a bit, and then get right back into “give me more ideas” mode where I alternate between pacing maddeningly around the house or deep breathing in silent meditation trying to download new ideas. Once an idea hits me, the cycle starts all over again.

So my coach suggested I take the Four Tendencies Quiz to find out which tendency I operate in.

How needing outside approval can lead to physical pain

For most of us, we were raised on external approval, whether it was from parents or teachers or friends. However, the need for external approval, and especially not getting it, can eventually build up into feelings of overwhelm, frustration, and resentment. And the build-up of such feelings in our bodies can create physical illness.

When willpower and "mindset" work do NOT work.

"I KNOW what I have to do. I KNOW all the things. I KNOW the Law of Attraction.

And I KNOW I just need to follow those principles and (for example) quit my job and say to hell with everyone's judgment, but for some reason, I just CAN'T! Every time I think I have the guts to do it, something stops me!”
