#12: Self Love vs. Self Care
In Western medicine, we talk a lot about self care and having a healthy self care practice. But what I learned from my own personal experience was that self care is not enough.
When I was living with my back pain and sleep apnea, I tried a ton of self care activities. But none of it really worked. If anything it made me feel worse because I taught self care regularly in my OT career, and I felt like either what I was teaching was a lie or I wasn’t even doing what I teach correctly!
It wasn’t until I learned about self love, how it’s different from self care, and how we actually need both in our lives did my back pain truly heal and I was able to make leaps towards my future self.
